Hi guys,

I agree with some of the guys here, I don't like walk-outs but I understand where TNT was coming from with the walkout.

In my humble opinion, the series got a little screwed by throwing out Ranidel for seven quarters to culminate the series. That's ALMOST TWO GAMES lost for a key cog over a questionable and ultimately, as coach Chot said, reviewable call. This throwout I think is just as 'disgusting to the fans' as the walk-out. Extra sour-grape points (from me =P) because Ranidel is one of my favorite players.

Kudos to the TNT team though for taking it to the chin and playing game 5 straight-up and bowing out, graciously in my opinion with all things set aside.

PS. I know you guys started this discussion over a week ago and I'm not here to dig up an old issue. I'm just simply a late-joiner to the discussion =).

I really do hope the PBA can capitalize on this experience to make things better in the league--of course I'm talking about the officiating. Even the NBA has their share of miscues with the refs! But heck we're way better than the NBA. Or, we are not? (Probably just the patriotic Pinoy in me!) The point of the matter is, the "dick move," as one blogger would like to call it, happens and there is no "undo" button to reverse it. But definitely there is the "grammar check" and "print preview" buttons to make the whole document better. The analogy does have loopholes in it, but I hope it does make any sense.

interesting view on stats. you know, advanced stats have had to struggle to gain acceptance in the nba for a while, too. the theory is mainly because a lot of people are scared of numbers they dont understand - and a lot of these people actually have aggressive objections to stats.

im glad you are one of the people who, despite getting bored of the numbers, appreciate what it is we do. thanks a lot!

Stats really do bore me (maybe the numbers either scare me or just reminds me being a sucker for math), but I believe the stats never lie (the evidence don't as in the CSI, or Soco). Am happy that people do talk about the recent basketball issues in a straightforward, honest and factual stance.

if they didn't walk out, would we even care about this issue? i don't think so. chot reyes would have been turned the blind eye, and "clean" officiating would not even be the focus of things right now. Hence, the league would not be bettering itself, if not even deteriorating.

the series is very much over, and i think the TNT franchise openly acknowledges that. i remember reading that MVP said that ginebra was simply the better team in game 5. TNT handled the fallout of the walkout in a fairly classy way, to be honest.

but that doesnt mean we cant go back and better understand events in the past.

i dont know if you can say there's a main group to blame here. at the very least, TNT should be held accountable for what they did, and i think they were fully aware of the consequences of their actions when they did it.

like i said, the walkout isnt something i want to advocate - but in some cases, you can understand why a team feels like it has to do it.

Yes its a disgust to the fans, BUT, they had no choice since it was a really lopsided series in terms of fouls called no matter what anyone says. MVP said that Ginebra was a better team and congratulated Ginebra, so they're not sour-graping or anything. that doesnt change the fact that the referees did a poor job in this series. THe main group to blame here is the PBA. Ginebra could've beaten talk n text in a fair fight. why allow the referees to screw things up?

again, the red flags are all there, but the reasons behind them - lets just say it didnt fall within the scope of what we wanted to look at. for all we know, ginebra really was getting fouled at high rate and managed to keep from fouling.

but the disparity does exist.

WOAH!! I never thought that the disparity in the FP100 between the two teams was as high as that! It is pretty OBVIOUS that their Quarterfinals Series was something extra-ordinary. I pity Ginebra for doing such a thing like this just to win the series. Don't they trust their skills? GO TNT!! For me, you are really the WINNERS!! LABAN TROPA!
