Butiki Bullets: Monday October 26

  • The San Sebastian Stags won the NCAA title over the weekend. The hardworking boys of Baste came back from a 10-point halftime deficit to pick up the sweep over the three-time champions San Beda. Jimbo Aquino picks up a much deserved Finals MVP trophy after being disqualified from winning any of the elimination round individual awards. Plenty of 4th quarter drama in this game, even with the Stags comfortably ahead. Aquino landing on teammate Calvin Abueva's foot was a scary sight. But not nearly as scary as the image of a bleeding Borgie Hermida after taking a Pamboy Raymundo elbow to the face late in the game. Excellent defensive battle, though. The Stags held the Red Lions to zero field goals in the 4th quarter and that pretty much ended all of their title hopes this season.

Maybe that was a game between the Slingers and PF. Not sure.

Damn these Stags. So fun to watch. Especially how Jimbo retaliated by knocking down tough 3 pointers.

JC is really getting a lot of burn. A lot more compared to Skyrus. What happened to Skyrus? The guy has been stuck in the bench.

the way tubid is playing (and caguioa in the first game) its tough to find minutes for baguio. maybe he can sneak into some minutes at the 3 but he doesnt have the size that sunday salvacion and intal have.

stags are great. big fan of ronald pascual. he looks like he'll easily replace whatever they'll lose with jimbo leaving. maybe semira, too, if he develops in the off-season. back to training na daw uli sila sabi ni agustin. haha.

Bols Brothers,

I think it was some stock footage from the old Asean tournaments PBA teams played in during their training camps, if you remember various incidents of fighting involving Purefoods and Red Bull.

These tournaments were actually the forefathers of the ABL and what inspired the region to blow it up into a real league. Wouldn't surprise me if the same organizers are behind the ABL now.

balma!

good to hear from you. very nice blog.

thats probably right. pba teams do get quite a bit of exposure in the asean region. what do you think of the abl so far? plenty interesting, if you ask me. especially with the inclusion of baclao, espiritu and acuna for the patriots.
